midday harvest
Great Sunday here at the kelp factory. Larch and I went out and harvest 20 bushels of kelp digitata style. This means that he rowed me around in one of the small boats while I hung over the end and reached down crushing my gut grabbing at kelp. Larch says I’m a pretty good cormorant. I always get a little seasick when I harvest in that manner. But it is fun up until that point. We just got through hanging the kelp and it’s 9:30pm. Time for tea and curling up with one of the three books I’m wrapped up in. We’re back to the harvest and I have some friends coming for a few days with their darling babe.
Oh! there were epiphytes glowing here and there on the kelp as we hung it in the dark and a few fires flies on the walk back to the house. New moon- if there are clear skies there’s sure to be a sky full of stars.
